My 400 Ti had a manual eject - you'd get a paper clip and push the manual eject button on the side of the CD slot. Does my Al Powerbook not have this?

Nope. The only way to eject a stubborn disc is to reboot and hold down the mouse button as the machine comes up. If that doesn't work, try holding down the eject button at startup instead. If that still doesn't work, you may need to send it in for service.

There's a thread over at Apple about how to remove a stuck CD from a 12" or 17". Basically it involves home made cardboard "tweezers".
