how come fw 800 on the 17 inch isnt as fast as on a tower. The speed isnt that much difference is it on the bus? Also is it worth swapin the hd in it my friend is willing to buy the hd most likely. the 60gig 7200 rpm hitachi one. fastest 2.5 inch.

i've never heard that FW 800 is slower on the PowerBooks than the tower; it's a standard, so speed shouldn't change across platforms. As to the HDD swap question, from what i've heard, it's not worth it to swap out the hard drive. it voids the warranty and provides only a marginal speed increase, which isn't noticeable in the majority of the apps most people run.

The bus speed is slower on the powerbook check barefeats.com they talk about it as well as talking about the hd speed's. warranty the hd is still going to have warranty im sure. Pluse im not that dumb to break the powerbook.

it's not about the hard drive's warranty, opening the powerbook for any reason (besides the little cover over the RAM slots) voids the warranty, and no matter how careful you are, they'll probably be able to tell that you opened it if you ever take it in for service.

and the fw800 bus speeds its slower right. will it make a difference compared to the tower?
