I have seen multiple topics on the logic board basewd display problems with the 800/900 MHZ iBooks. It sounds like a lot of people are having to send their iBooks back multiple times for this problem.

Does anyone know if this has been ironed out in the currently shipping ones? It seems like a deal-killer, if I understand it correctly.

thanks

Anybody know if this is a problem with the 12 inch 800s as well? My friend has a 14 in 800 and has sent it back 2 times for this problem. My 12in is still fine.

I have an Apple-refurbished iBook (800/Combo) and I have yet to experience this problem.

I have a 900 ibook and don't have any problems with it.

Funny though because I read these forums all the time and haven't hear of the problem you are describing.

Then you definitely missed some posts. It's been discussed quite a bit, although it may show up as a 'logic board' or 'motherboard' issue--but it all seems to be related to the video going out. Check the links below. And that's only a small sample.

And my video has now gone out twice.
