Long story, but I need a new keyboard after frying my original. Anyone know where I can get a new one?

The places that often have parts like these don't yet seem to have parts for the new powerbooks, so I think you'll probably have to get one from apple. You'll probably have to send it in and then pay for the repairs, since I doubt it would be covered by warranty.

From my experience, I would say that you will have to go straight to Apple as well...

I sent the machine to Apple. My hardrive got fried and they wanted $972 US to repair it. It had a small dent on the left lower case so they voided my warranty and my APP. I put a new 7200rpm hardrive in myself but ruined the keyboard (due to my impatience and stupidity). The machine works fine with an external keyboard, but I haven't been able to get the original keyboard to work. Any thoughts?

Well got the keyboard working again, but would still like a new one because the current one looks bad. Still open to any suggestions

I was going to refer you to http://www.pbparts.com , however, they don't have the new AluBooks parts in stock it seems.

Sorry.

Pretty stupid. I forgot to remove the screw next to the RAM dimm. So using the Y chromosome I proceeded to rip the keyboard off . So needless to say the keyboard looks warped right around key 5 because there is no screw holding it down.

As for getting it to work again, I spent the last 2 days straightening it out and reinstalled it. I think I put the retaining clip in backwards the 1st time.

Overall a fun experience. Much more nerve racking then working in a desktop. The laptop is much faster than before, but it's hard to say how much since I came right from a malfunctioning HD.
