I replaced my Pismo DVD drive with a Matshita 710 combo drive (purchased on ebay) 2 years ago. The OS9 files for iTunes, etc were available via xlr8yourmac.com. Works great in OS9.

However, the posted OSX file does not work on my machine with OSX.2.6.

Does anyone have good drivers for this combo drive in OSX?

Looks like theirs is a Toshiba mechanism. It is also noteworthy that there is a native drive support change from OS X 10.1.5 to OS X 10.2.1

I wonder if I need to take the 10.2.x matshita device file and update it for the 710. Anyone know how to do this?

I have the Matshita UJDA710 drive in my Pismo working well with OS X.

You need to modify the file (first make a copy and a backup copy (in case anything goes wrong) of it into your home directory and after editing, move it back using Terminal and reset the owner with "chown root MatshitaCDR.device-plugin" while in the folder where the plugin resides):

/System/Library/Frameworks/DiscRecording.framework/Versions/A/Resources/DevicePlugIns/MatshitaCDR.device-plugin

Look for the string "UJDA310" and change it to read "UJDA710" (just change the letter "3" to "7").
