With all the chatter/begging for updated Powerbooks, let's see what the consensus is for their arrival...

I thought it might have been today. Well it will probably be in the first couple weeks of August..

It might be towards the end of August. Apple is about to update several of its lineups and it cannot do all of them in the Paris Apple Expo. I like to think that XServe and iMac/eMacs are gonna be updated at the Apple Expo, while the PBs get a much needed refresh sometime late August.

I do not care when they upgrade the Powerbooks. I bought mine today and I can hardly wait for it to arrive.

I think much of this hype, i.e "I must have a updated PowerBook or else I will die", is a by-product of Apple attracting more PC switchers.

Damn you Apple!! </ shakes fists>

Agreed, long time Mac users are typically more patient... we're used to Apple's games. I'm always having recent switchers asking me when the new G5s and PBs are coming out. I just tell them, "ask Steve".

I seem to remember that apple had a deal whereby if you bought a machine and they updated it within 3 weeks of purchase, you could return it for an upgrade.

Anyone confirm this or know exactly how long the time frame is?

With the percentages relatively close, it's safe to say that the updates could come out at any time this year.

I bought a top end Pismo around the first week of Jan 2001 from Apple, and before it shipped Apple offered to send me a 400MHz TiBook at a $200 discount instead, seeing how they discountinued the Pismo on me while my order was still being processed and all.

I don't like polls to have too many options, and perhaps it is wishfull thinking on my part that it comes out before October.

Since school is around the corner and new college students are looking for labtops, you think they would be putting out the best they had to offer. I believe for apple they should have updates by the begining of august it just makes sense.
