I've discovered that my powerbook won't put itself to sleep when on battery power, it just keeps running.

I have the energy saver preference set to sleep after 5 minutes, but it doesn't. This means that I end up with a flat battery if I've left it on but not manually slept it.

Any suggestions what I might be doing that would cause this.

Cheers,

J.

Are you sure you were looking at the battery-power settings and not the AC-power settings? There are independent settings for each.

Positive. I've been checking that REALLY carefully, but it's definitely the correct settings.

OK, the next logical questions are:

1. Have you done the usual disk and permission repairs with Disk Utility?

2. Do you have any system hacks installed?

If you haven't already, you can try setting them to something else and then back to the setting that you want. I've found that occasionally the settings don't stick for some reason, but they will if you redo them. You could also try a zap of the PRAM.
