New today broke that the PPC 7457 G4 is for sale from Moto. Apple can have access to the chips before they are put up forsale. Apple could very well have build 3 powerbook models with the 7457 in them and have them on display at Siggraph to satisfy the people (including myself) who are concerned on when they could be here. They might not ship until mid-late August, but at least people would know when they are coming.

Are you talking about The Register's story, or do you have a link to some other info? According to The Register Motorola is just shipping the evaluation board and the final production run has not yet begun.

Personally I feel apple would be stupid not to release the pb by mid-August. School starts up in Sept, and a lot of college students are in the market for a powerbook. I know tons of my friends plan on buying a pb if they release it. Otherwise they might have to get a dell. I been trying to hold out since December :/

I do not mind if they release their new Powerbooks. I bought mine the other day and it is a model tht has been around now for some time.

With new meodels you alsways have to await what is happening with technology. Are there any bugs and so.

No, lots of fun at Siggraph but I am happy and content with my computer and no update can change that
