Hello everyone,

I like many others am going off to school in a month or so and was wondering if anyone knew of a good slim case that wouldn't make the PB much bigger than it allready is, just enough protect it from the jostling and scratches it would otherwise get ridding along with the rest of my books and notebooks in my bookbag.

I had exactly the same need, and after much debating between the booq Powersleeve and the Waterfield Sleevecase I finally decide for the later. Since I don't think I'll ever carry my laptop alone, I didn't get either the flap or the strap so it ended up costing $42 shipped (versus $55 or so for the booq one) It's a very nice case, perfect fit with lot's of padding and doesn't take up much space.
Basically, unless you want to just the pb alone, it's the way to go.

I have the waterfield also and I like it very much.

I did get the flap and have one piece of advice.

I would get the the flap so that the powerbook slides in from its side and not the front (front being where the sleeping light is)

Main reason being that alot of times I like to charge it in the case and I have to leave it hanging out a little cause where the power plug is located,
Had I goten the top loading case I could charge it whaile its in the case

Hope that made sense

Secondly, just to make sure did you mean...

had you gotten the side loading case you could have charged it while it was in the case.

thanks again

...and does anybody have the Booq PowerSleeve? Since I've never seen one in a store, I'm hesitant to spend $50 or so on it. How is the build quality? Do you feel it's worth it?

I bought the Booq PowerSleeve a few months back...when they were $40 (prices went up after they realized people liked them). It is fantastic! The construction is superb. They make it out of ballistic nylon, the same kind of material they put into making high-quality luggage. I have had mine for a few months and simply LOVE it. It is rugged enough to carry on its own. The padding is top-quality as well. I feel safe enough to carry my PowerBook around with just the Booq PowerSleeve. I looked into the various choices for cases and decided that Booq was the best choice. Like you, I was hesistant because it was only info I got from their own site and since no stores carried it, I just took a chance. It turned out to be one of the BEST investment I have made. Also, check out BagReview's comments on the PowerSleeve. Good luck.

I too have the Booq PowerSleeve for my 12" powerbook. No doubt the construction is great and the product is near perfect. Their customer service, IMO, however, needs work. I bought it online and Booq overcharged me for shipping by about $12. I complained, and about 2 weeks later, they sent back my money through Paypal. No apologies, no email following up, nothing. All I got was a notifciation from Paypal. I'd rather have had them acknowledge their mistake. It's the principal of the thing, I guess.

My one gripe about the product: It's got a real thin strap that is not easily replaced. With the powerbook so small, I feel like I'm carrying a purse...

...But I'm secure enough in my manhood [flexes muscles], so it's just a minor complaint.

I just wanted to to share my experiences with Waterfield Design. They rock! I've used their 15" sleeve with both my original Ti500 and my TiSD. Fantastic product that lasted years without any wear despite my daily abuse.

This past Friday, I upgraded to a 17" Powerbook. (Blessed silence once again. But that's another thread.) It came as no surprise that no bag I had came close to fitting. I placed an order for a Waterfield Design case on Sunday afternoon. On Monday I had a tracking number. Gary had given me a free upgrade to overnight shipping. On Tuseday my horizontal sleeve with all the options arrived. Needless to say, the sleeve fits perfectly.

Great product, great service. What else can one ask for?
