Hello,
Has anybody tried that app that is for download called iBookScreenEnhancer App?
Does it also work with video out? Instead of a second monitor, you could use your TV to play some movies, while still using the iBook screen for other stuff?
Or am I getting this whole wrong..
I didn't install it yet caus I don't know any German and it looks kinda dangerous
Thx!

Im using it... Lemme explain what happened, After b*tching at my friends with their 12' powerbooks (When it came time to buy my mac notebook I asked both which would be a smarter choice and they said iBook to save me a few hundred... So i got a 800 12' Combo iBook, which now has 640ram), I was mad cause I did not find out until later that the pb allows you to span without any mods... So one of my friends a week or so ago found me this apple script, because I was afraid of doing the 'typing into firmware manually' way. I ran the apple script but it was in german so I had to do alot of translating and when it asked me to reboot I cancelled out thinking that it didnt modify anything on my system, I later opened the script in the Apple Script Editor and saw it does same thing as the firmware mod... So I never ran it again, But yesterday, I finally rebooted my ibook after having it up for 6(almost 7) days. Everything went normal, I got into OSX without noticing a change and had totally forgotten about the mod. Me and my friend started talking about the display settings in my iBook and I went browsing threw the settings and under Arrangement I noticed a new radio button "Mirroring", so I disabled it and was liek "Holy %&%^$!!!, OSX had it built in this whole time!!" and then I realized that the mod had worked its way into my reboot anyways. I like using the dual displays, it uses a bit more cpu usage, not that much... But right now I am going paranoid trying to figure out why my iBook seems to be ideling at a higher cpu usuage even when mirroring is turned on. ... And im guessing the only way to undo the mod is to reset the nvram... Make sure your iBook is capable of doing the mod before hand.

The mod is reversible straight from the script. That is one of the main benefits.

The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

How is that confusing? Let me break it down...
1. I ran the applescript
2. I cancelled out of it (wanting to make sure it wouldnt harm my system)
3. I opened it in Apple Script Editor
4. I saw it does pretty much same thing as when you type the commands into Open Firmware
5. Because I knew that other iBooks have stopped booting after the OF mod (mostly older ones) I did not want to finish doing the mod.
6. I forgot about it
7. I rebooted my iBook 6-7 days later
8. Everything went smooth
9. I did not notice a change, did not even remember the mod.
10. While playing around I found the "Mirroring" checkbox and disabled it, This gave me dual displays...
11. Might be me just being paranoid, but I think my cpu usuage is higher when I dont do dual displays(spanning) and have mirroring on.
Summary: Its a nice mod that gives you an extra desktop without having to use Virtual Desktops or any of that bs, and im pretty sure it uses less resources... Ive also read that with iBook 800s and such that have 32vram (like my) Quartz is still enabled.
