My Pismo Powerbook came with one of those round power adapters. It looks cool but the original one died and now my second one is dying. Looks like the low-voltage cord is frayed where it joins the body of the adapter. Can I replace it with one of the old-style black brick power adapters?

I really doubt it.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Yes, you can. Check out MadsonLine. They have black brick power adapters that have the larger connector that will work with the Pismo (they also have replacement bricks for newer models with the smaller connector).

Just one thing to look out for is that you stay away from the WallStreet series adapters that were recalled. You can send them in for a replacement only if you have a WallStreet serial number so you'd be out of luck if you purchased on by itself. Other than that, Power Adapters from the 1400, 2400, and 3400 all work great with a Pismo.
