I was cruising the PowerBook section on eBay when I came accross this auction.

Now, if taking off the display plastics of your PowerBook and adding a multi-colored plastic sheet behind the Apple logo makes your PowerBook 'extremely rare' and more valuable, I can think of about 40 things I can do to my PowerBook that would be guarenteed to increase it's value into the thousands...

Rainbow colored logo...

From San Francisco.

Gee, I wonder why?

What a rip-off.

The eyeroll item here is the price, of course, but hey, it's commerce. I mean $1,000+ for a Pismo with the stock RAM and a 30 GB HD? Sheesh! If somebody's willing to pay it though, why not? eBay does suck, but this auction isn't why.

If a buyer doesn't do their homework and gets burned overpaying for something, that's not eBay's fault. eBay sucks for all the fake auctions and frauds going on.

Actually, the eyeroll wasnt for the price, it was for the false claim.

Calling an item 'EXTREMELY RARE' and limited because you modified it is bullsh*t. He is passing off his 5 minute modification as something that was done by Apple. If this machine is purchased, he could be accused of fraud.

Even eBay has strict rules about the description of items placed up for auction.

This auction is indeed the reason that eBay can suck.
