Just wanted to say hello, I have been reading up here for awhile now, and have been the proud owner of a 12" PB for about 2 weeks now...

In the past I have used both PC and Macs and this is my first Mac...

I guess the primary reason I got the 12" PB is OSX, and the mobility...

I also have a keen eye for design, and simply fell in love with the relative beauty of this machine I am now typing on...

I have owned only PC notebooks in the past, primarily Dell, IBM, and Toshiba's, but like many others on this board, those other makers can't hold a candle to the 12" PB in terms of design aesthetics...(at least that is what i think, as beauty lies in the eye of....you get my point)....

Regardless, I am very pleased with my purchase, and look forward to the release of Panther later this year...

For me mobility was key, as was battery life when considering this notebook.

The x-factor for me in deciding to get the 12" was the overall look and feel of the computer in terms of dimensions and its overal aesthetic.

I simply cannot stand to look at an ugly-molded-cheap-economy car dashboard platic molded notebook...(i.e. many popular PC notebooks are guilty of this...)...

Additionally, I love the fact that my 12" PB has a 54G card installed inside and thus there are no ugly protrusions/cards that can be seen on the exterior...

Aside from the fact that I think Apple has unintentionally included a feature that is not listed anywhere in the spec sheet I am very pleased with this notebook...

I am referring to the feature which can be best described as 'left hand palm warmer'...

(Man does this thing get warm/hot)...

Not a bad thing considering I live in Toronto and in winter I think this feature will come in handy as for now it does not as it is over 30 celcius outside right now......

(ok enough of the weather report...flame me if you want for going off topic...)

lates....

congrats on the new machine. I bought mine over July 4th and have been in extremely pleased.

Heat was a bit of a problem considering the 100 degree summer in Texas which runs from June to October.

Enjoy the new machine.

I was also impressed with the beauty of this machine. The love affair with my PB12 is still going strong after a month of ownership. I hope you also enjoy your new Mac!

Kudos, good choice!

It's a wonderful machine. I've enjoyed mine for 6 months now and it's easily the finest computer I've ever owned (out of the 20+ systems I've owned in the past).

It'll, no doubt, give you years of faithful service.

Good choice in a computer, and welcome to the world of Macs! It's always good to hear of a fellow Torontonian who has Switched away from the dark side of PCs.

My current 12" is the second Mac I've owned (I used to have a 15" Titanium) and this is by far the ultimate machine I've ever had. Like you mentioned shabbasuraj, the portability of the 12" is such a wonderful thing, a day doesn't go by without my noticing how light and easy it is to carry around. Not to mention how it organizes so much of my life, with ease (music, photos, work, webpage design, email, internet, games, etc. etc.)

About the heat--this isn't a Mac-only phenomenon, as you might have already noticed with PC laptops. Laptops in general have a tendency to heat up a lot. Trust me, in the winter it really is a good feature though.

Enjoy your little beast!

Sorry to take this a little off topic, but did you notice that from 6 months ago (whatever OS X version that was) until the latest, the PB has gotten cooler? I used to be able to touch people with it and burn them, make them jump. Now, it is just warm at the most.

I noticed that you have more than 640 megs of RAM listed for your 12" PB. I just purchased one myself, and I though I had maxed out the RAM. Am I missing something? More is better.

You can buy a 1GB SoDimm and put that in, thing is they cost around $700 and aren't easy to come by.
