So my 1ghz tobook has marks on the screen (from the ridge in the trackpad on the left side) does anyone know if apple will cover this (its a light spot in the LCD from it) my pismo lasted 2 years under the same conditions without any permanent damage... Im kind of dissapointed (and this thing is getting scratched up already too...)

Im thinking no... it'll be classified as "user abuse"

You're thinking right. My iBook is the same, with the 12" APple seems to have managed to solve the problem though.

Just carefully clean the screen and look at it as the signs of a productive life.

No coverage for the marks. Consider one of the keyboard cloth covers.

I had very deep keyboard pattern marks on my Pismo that even appeared to have penetrated to under the LCD's surface. KlearScreen wouldn't touch them. Used one alcohol wipe pad lightly (drugstore variety) and marks were GONE. Completely. Reapplication of KlearScreen made LCD look brand new.

Using alcohol on LCD is not considered a wise choice. Personally, cleaning once or twice a year using alcohol to eliminate those marks seems a reasonable remedy. You also can always dilute the alcohol pad with water until it still removes the keyboard marks, but with lesser alcohol strength.
