Im going to get a Firewire HD for my iBook eventually, probably make my own with an enclosure and ATA drive. Is there a maximum size HD the iBook can take on Firewire? Thanks

I don't think there is any maximum size. The only limitations we still have to deal with are limitations in the ATA interface. That could be a problem for an internal drive, but not a firewire drive. It would only be a problem for your firewire drive if the firewire bridge you use doesn't support large drives. Just make sure that it does before you get it.

in addition:
with 120 Gb you are on the safe side. "large" means >120gigs

Nope, the iBook isn't a limiting factor here. Since the drive in the enclosure will be using the enclosure's IDE controller, the enclosure is actually the limit. Most shipping enclosures these days support "large drives" (>127gb). I just bought a great dual-bay enclosure for $60 from compgeeks.com, and it works great with my new Maxtor 160gb drive. A full 158gb recognized on my iBook.

Good luck.
