Yea, most have been wrong, but i'm just looking for rumors that might have truth to them, if we don't post rumors unless we know they're right, then we'll never post rumors at all.

Rumors aren't true lol. The only facts you can possibly get out of this is when apple actually updates the line. Furthermore I think it would be best to find another thread on the PowerBook updates to post these in instead of making a new one for every rumor. It kind of clogs up the forum if you know what I mean. Otherwise I really dont have a problem with it. Just dont get your hopes up though.

I will be surprised if this is true. LOL No one probably believes this nonsense anymore. Its been going on for so long it all just seems like BS now. No one knows whats going on because no one at apple wants there head cut off for leaking info.

That probably doesn't mean anything. We've been seeing this for a couple of week now and till nothing.
Just have to wait patiently for it to be updated. Don't have the money now to get it anyway.

I'd hate to see what you consider inaccurate!
Except for the MDD Powermac pictures, I hesitate to think of anything MacBidouille has got right! Some of what they say is plain embarrassing and also proved to be work of fiction like the 'G5' benchmarks...
The 15" Powerbooks will be here when they are here, no amount of discussion based on fact or fiction, will speed things up.
I also am wondering why the info could not have been added into another one of the litany of threads on this very same topic?

We could start a futures market based on when Apple is going to update the PB's. Anyone?

Im sorry man its just getting old. No one knows and at this point people are just repeating what has already been said. Nothing wrong with that but it just shows no one knows so nothing is new. Those rumor sites dont know anything. Its just a chain one says something and then the other follows up on what was said.

Here's what I get for shipping timeframes for each PowerBook on the Apple Store today:
12" Combo: 3-5 days
12" Superdrive: 3-5 days
15" Combo: 5-7 days
15" Superdrive: 5-7 days
17": same day
So aside from the 17" model, all PowerBooks are seeing some larger-than-usual delays (especially 15" models). It's not a surefire guarantee of PowerBooks tomorrow, but this isn't what one would expect given that the PowerBooks have typically been available within 1-2 days at most on average.
And as a sidenote: I also checked some of the ship times over the weekend, and they haven't changed (i.e. it wasn't just a momentary blip).

Well from what I have read some people are waiting longer then those ship times suggest. I have nothing to back this up though.

Because it's from youknowwho. Just be glad he didn't just copy one of your posts and dump it in a Spymac forum, like he did last week.

Thanks for the heads up... much appreciated
I just found the post over at Spymac. Wow, not cool. Think I'll have to start a thread about it...
Cheers again,
Marc

For reference, those ship times have been fluctuating for the past few months.
When I bought by 12" about a month ago, there was an estimated shipping time of 5-7 days (admittedly BTO, but still 3-5 stock). The ship times are based on a variety of factors and mean - exactly - nothing.

Another rumor debunked. Face it. Everyone just relax and wait for the 15" and 12" updates patiently. I know it is frustrating, but it doesn't help anything to keep up this cycle. I want to buy a new PB too, but I'm reluctant to buy a Rev.A 12" that's hot and lacking L3 cache and Gigabit ethernet or a 15"Tibook that still has a 133MHz bus and chips paint that is also over 8 months old. The time will come.

No today is today and only tomorrow is tomorrow.
These waiters are those who fill the forum here with complaints and prediaction of maybe upcoming Apples whilst we are at work behind them.

The only things folks should be watching for is a press release from Motoslowa that the 7457s are released in production quantities. At which point, Apple, who likely have a bunch of powerbooks on their production lines without processors, will announce an update to all 3 models, with faster, cooler, lower power consuming processors. After all they already have the chips for R&D.
Motoslowa said 3rd quarter 03 which ends September 30. If they hold true, but don't deliver till the last day and Apple is well primed, the latest we should see the new PBs in mid October.
I wouldn't count on anything till September at the earliest. Not because of the G5 release, just because Motoslowa is well, slow.
What the 3 models mean at a minimun to me are:
12" twice the L2 cache.
15" 17" specs in a 15" body with better battery life.
17" real-world usability of 3 hours or more on battery power.
a tough choice on which one to get.

I think the biggest problem then is enduring the "when is revision B, C, D. . ." of that version going to come out?
But THAT's been beaten to death too. . . .
