This is what happened. I was installing Cd that is version 9 compatible. I clicked and saved this Max OS 9 (that was computer said). Unfortunately when I want to go back to my version 10, I was lost because it looks like that the version X is not on the found on this version. I tried to reinstall using the CD for powerbook but it seems that the new version is still there. How can I go back to the new version without reinstalling? I have been figuring this out since last night but no luck at all. Any help is appreciated. BTW, I am a new mac user.

Hi! Exactly what type of file/program are you trying to open, and on what machine?

If you're on a TiBook w/ OS 9 boot capibilities, simply go to System Preferneces, Startup Disc, and select "OS 9" & Restart. Once in OS 9, your program should open fine.

If you're on a 12" or 17" PB, the program most likely installing in "Classic"...just let us know a bit more details about what you're trying to open.

My program is Ti book w both OS 9 and OS X. What I have now is the OS 9 and I am trying to go back to my original program which is the OS X but to no avail.

Oh, so you're saying you actually want to BOOT INTO OS X?

If you're in OS 9, click the "Apple" at the top-left corner, go down to "Control Panels" and select "Startup Disc". From there, select the "OS X" disc and click Restart...that solve it?

You're very welcome! And just for future reference, what you were trying to do was to actually boot into OS X. OS X & OS 9 aren't "programs", they're "operating systems". If you ever want to leave OS X & boot into OS 9, go to "System Preferences", "Startup Disc", and Select "OS 9" and reboot. To leave OS 9 & re-enter OS X, you know how to do that now.
