Alright, so my 'book (15 tibook) died... I posted about it a couple of weeks ago, but it got progressivley worse before I got back home from out of town. Took it to a dealer who was nice enough to charge me $100 for the five minutes it took him to tell me that Apple would have to replace the logic board.

SO now it'll be another week or two until i get it back. I'm curious, after readin some other posters, if it will come back with some of the minor cosmetic blemishes fixed as well.

My question is... have any of you had trouble with your logic board? and what caused it? I'm trying to figue out what might have happened to it, but for the life of me, I can't think of anything.

How easy is it to deal with Safeware? A combination of AppleCare and Safeware looks like it'd cover most of the bases.

Do you pay Apple and then file a claim w/ a receipt or something and have them reimburse you the cost of the repair?

Or does anyone know if American Express provides any of this type of insurance. My 12" was purchased with a Amex gold card.

Good luck with the repair. I had the mlb (logic board) go in my iBook, basically at random after about 8 months. I believe the problem was with the ATI Radeon 7500 chipset on the board. I've heard things about ATI onboard chipsets burning out. Seeing as you've got a TiBook you've probably got an ATI chipset of some sort.

Safeware told me to pay bill & fax them the bill. The last PB I had repaired (telephone surge) I got a bill from Apple Store... actually an estimate, because they didn't bill my credit card until it was returned 4 days later. I received a check from Safeware before I even signed credit card receipt & pick up from Apple Store.

Great Service... no questions asked!
