Go do a search for "Powerbook predictions" or something. There's God knows how many posts over the last few months related to this.

Macrumors.com is saying that MacBidouille claims that August 18-19 will be the release day.

The new Powerbooks will be released when Apple think the time is right to do so.

When that will be we will know when it happens.

That people THINK a new version will be released TOMORROW means they won't buy them TODAY. Inventory builds, Apple delays release of tomorrow's machine in hopes of clearing its overstock of today's machine. The farther we are past the "normal cycle," the greater the tendency of people to delay, the greater the incentive of Apple to not announce ....

Of course, eventually the bubble bursts, Centrino machines improve and Apple is "forced" to release tomorrow's machine.

Well ... that's my theory

Perhaps you could fscking look yourself instead of expecting everybody else to do work for you? Like going to http://www.apple-expo.com/ or just going to http://www.apple.com/hotnews/ which always lists upcoming events in the sidebar.

Considering the person who started this thread is a junior member, most the the people who've responded are very rude.

More senior members need to be far more considerate than this.

Nooooooooo!

I just ordered a 15 TiBook Thursday night. Because it costs more than my credit card limit allows, I used my dad's card.

I must have screwed something up(or my dad has terrible credit ), because Apple cancelled the order. Phone support suggested I just place the order again. My dad's gone for the weekend, so I was going to wait until Sunday night to re-enter the order. And now I read this MacBidouille rumour!

Now I have to decide whether or not to wait an extra week. I've been waiting an extra week every week since the end of May!

Apple, you guys are killing me.

Oh well, at least I've got that new Gamecube to keep me busy in the meantime.

Steve's voice mail is telling that the is working overtime this weekend. Apparently he is installing faster cards in all the current Powerbooks in stock.

So order now and you wil lget a faster CPU when your Powerbook is being shipped. And the nicest thing is that Steve installed it himself. Maybe he even signed it andthe nyou have an extraspeical limited speed bumped version.

Its not Apple's fault that it's "killing" you. All of this is based on speculation. Apple will release the product when it feels that it is both finished and can be produced in significant quantities.

The current 12" notebooks are just great and the edu discounts make them fantastic.

Probably all you'll gain by waiting is a speed bump, but who knows maybe they'll bend and add DVI too. Neither prospect bothers me much. My 12" is much speedier than old iBook 800, has built-in bluetooth, and has a wonderful case that doesn't collect scratches (scratches are unavoidable with that polycarbonate case on the iBook).

Forget a speed bump, I just want a 15" model that isn't mostly inferior to the IttyBittyBook.

It is not just that. . . . It is the fact that if you look not even half way down the threads in the Powerbook Forum you could easily see that there are a number of threads dealing with this already. (More if you use the Search Function).

The AluBook and TiBook's overall designs are great, but the bus and CPU speeds are just mediocre at best. (I have a TiBook SD.)

The next update will bring a somewhat improved CPU speed, and likely an improvement in bus speed only for the 15".

When the bus design changes, then they may hit the "great" category.

Anyways, here are my predictions. (Full specifications predictions for all three models, with pricing.)

I realize that but it's still no excuse. I think most of us can say that we want new Mac users. We want people to feel welcome.

Feel free to lamb-baste senior members for doing something like this.

I thought it was all down to Motorola and PPC7457 processors flying out of their butts.

7457 ships in quantity = new PowerBooks.

No?

So, the thread title should be:

"What's up with the 7457?"

or (for English readers)

"Has the 7457 processor entered volume production yet?"

Thanks.. At first, I was puzzled. This is something I wont do to a junior member or someone who's interesting in Mac. I consider this MacNN forum is my apple family.

They ARE a great deal. I just priced a 12", 640ram, AE, combo, 60gig and a 10gig ipod for 2048 with tax/shipping. Subtract 200 for the mail in rebate, and subtract another 200ish when I sell the ipod off, and that's a 1600 dollar, maxed out 12" AlBook. Best deal on the net.
