I just bought a new iBook and are wanting some reassurance that we didn't get raked over the coals. Simple question, "Is this a good deal?" Here are the specs:
$1375.56
800MHz
14.1" screen
640MB RAM
30GB HD
Combo drive
Carrying case

[edit: subtracted mail-in rebates]

Well, the current 14" iBooks ship with 900 mhz and 40 gb hard drives at only about 25 dollars more than what your planning to buy. But I think it is a great price for it since it does have a 640 mb memory which would increase the price if you bought a new one. However, find out how old it is and how much it has been used, since you might be able to use as leverage to negotiate the prices (if at all possible). Overall though, i think its a pretty good deal, if its a fairly new machine.

Im currently looking to buy an iBook as well, so I'm kinda in the same boat that you are...

Sooo...Good Luck!!!

no

try here for the same setup at $1367 after rebates...

scroll to where you see "Click here: to place this iBook, your FREE* 384MB RAM Upgrade and Epson 820 printer in your cart.
Installation fee required for free RAM.
" -- remove the installation kit to save $40

if you search around on the web, i'm sure you can find even better deals...

OK, I should have clarified...before rebates. I actually bought the computer from MacWarehouse. The amount of $1475 was the amount charged. If you factor in a $99.95 mail-in rebate, the price for the iBook is $1375.56. This includes the $40 installation for the extra RAM.

And if this isn't the best deal, possible...c'est la vie. Thank you, all!
