I was wondering from actual Powerbook users, how is the battery life fresh out of the box? how much do you get out of it 2-3.5 hours?

This will most likely aid me in my purchase. I'm struggling over the idea of a iBook 900 (to save the money) or Powerbook 867 (mb 1Ghz if it gets updated this month).

Thanks

I'm outside in the garden now, screen is full brightness, airport is on, iTunes is playing and bittorrent is going. 2:24 left and I've been out here for about 15 minutes.

Okay, I have used an 800mhz, a 17" PB, and now a 867mhz. (I also have an iBook 800).

The 17" was horrible in terms of battery life, it was on average about 2hrs to 2.5 at most.

My 800mhz with Energy saving on and screen dimmed, I get about 2.5hr.

But on my brand new 867, I am getting about 3hrs or so w/o Energy saving and screen running at full brightness. If I don't have that many programs running and dimmed the screen like I would do when I am just working in MS Word, I could get 3.5hr or more.

So expect at least 3hrs from a brand new battery.

I've been using my 4 month old 1 GHz Tibook and I get between 2.5 hours (when burning stuff) and 3.5 hours, without having reduced processor activated - I've only ever found the battery life lacking when I went to the college library for the day to work (and download) and forgot the AC adapter - all other times its outlasted me!

Thanks guys!! just the info I needed

I think 3 hours will be enough. And you guys are on full brightness and stuff. When I get mine i'll probably have iChat, Mail, itunes, Konfab and Safari up at all times.

I don't think it should suck the battery life to much??
