Since I have read posts that the 17" does work with Maxell DVD-R/W I was about to purchase some to see for myself, but reconsidered to first ask how many out there have had success with DVD-R/W and does one have to use TOAST or will iDVD work?

I can't comment on the DVD media but you don't have to use to toast to burn or erase DVDs, from my limited experience it appeared to me that they acted pretty much the same as burnable CDs do. But correct me on this.
