Crucial is good. So is Kingston. Also Samsung, Infineon... etc...
You need PC133 SO-DIMM low profile chips.
If you got the 256MB ram version powerbook you have one 256 chip in there. If you bought the 512MB ram version powerbook, you have (2) 256MB ram chips in your powerbook.
The most important thing you can do before your install is making sure that you don't fry your computer. If you are not comfortable touching the insides of your computer at all, bring it somewhere to get done. Don't get me wrong, it's an easy install, but there are also ways you can easily make a lemon out of your powerbook.
Unplug the powercord. Take out the battery. Put on an anti-static wrist strap if you have one and ground yourself. If no wrist strap, make sure you're not rubbing on carpet or wearing clothes that rub against each other easily. (maybe you should wear spandex... hehe) Ground yourself by touching a metal part of the inside of the computer (not the circuit board.).
Pull the two keyboard locking mechanisms on the far left and right towards you, and pull up. Rest it over the trackpad without unplugging it.
You can see the ram set up, two slots stacked on top of another just above the trackpad. There are two spring loaded latches holding each chip in on the left and right.
If you have a chip in there that you need to remove, then gently pull each tab to the right and left away from the ram chip. You only need to pull it back about 1-1.5 mm and the ram chip will popup. Pull the chip out by holding only the edges of the chip.
To install one or more chips, hold the new ram by the edges and make sure the notch on the ram and slot match up. This is how you know you're putting it in the right way. Gently push the ram into the slot at a 30-45 degree angle.
Don't be afraid to push it in, it needs to go in about 4mm or so. Then, push it down into the logic board. Don't worry about the prongs on the right and left, just push down, and let it click down and secure itself in the prongs.
Once you've installed all the ram you want, put the keyboard back and you're all set to go...
