There is absolutly, without a doubt, a 64.2% chance that the powerbooks will be updated on Tuesday.
Hope that helps.

There is a 76.4% chance of them being released on Monday on Tuesday, although 34.7% of statistics are made up on the spot.
In all honesty, nobody on this site either a) knows anything, or is b) willing to tell!
Your guess is as good as ours.
Peace,
Marc
P.S. Think of the 7 months usage on a great Tibook you have missed out on...

How do you guys come up with this percentage? What have I missed?
Ans as one of the earlier posters already stated: you missed out for about seven months on a fun with an Apple.

Given the absence of "chatter" (it's a terrorism term :-), the chances of a Tuesday release are nil, zero, nada, nunca .... dammit!
Where do they get their percentages? Why, from whence the monkeys fly!
P.S. I want my 15" Al ... NOW!

The came up with the percentage by making it up, just like 70% of all humans do from time to time
The point is, no one knows when the PB's will be released. Hell, they could be waiting until November to do a 1 year anniversary suprise rollout of a 15" G5, WHO KNOWS? Actually the G5 is completely out of the question given they said it wouldn't be anytime soon...
As has been repeated ad naseum in this forum... if you need a book today, BUY IT TODAY. If you can wait, wait until you absolutely have to have one and then get it. It's all about what you need, when you need it.
I didn't wait (back in May, before WWDC) to get my Ti, and I couldn't be happier. Even if a new 15" is released tomorrow it won't hurt my feelings a bit, I love my baby The reason being that I NEEDED the machine right then. If there hadn't been a pressing need, I would've just waited.

I'd say the chances are about 0.5 (s.d. 0.5).

There is a 28.5% chance that the release of the new PB will be on Mon or Tue. Which Monday or Tuesday is a bit different of a story.

Gee, I thought it was more of a 2 in 7 chance ... or 28.6%!
We need every one hundredth of a percent that we can get. (Okay, it's only 28.57143.)

As with any rumor, I am prepared to be disappointed.
Usually predictions like this, that aren't around any big events turn out to be false. Often these things are rather unexpected. But who knows, maybe we will be surprised.

OK, now that everyone has had their oh-so-funny jerk-offs with their home made percentage numbers, I'll try to give you some info on your actual question.
Nobody has real hard info on the intro of the new PowerBooks. Ever since the Al Books have come out people have been expecting a new 15" Al PowerBook. It hasn't emerged since. Granted that makes people expect it even more since we can't imagine Apple could do without.
More recently rumors have come up that suggest the whole line should have already been updated, but is being delayed because Moto has screwed up with the new G4s (7457). This could be true, but then again, everybody wants to take a dump on Moto nowadays so this could just be baloney. Nobody here really knows.
A couple of days ago rumors arised that claimed the PowerBooks would be revised within a week or two with speeds from 1.0 to 1.33 GHz, the 15" having the 17" treats and the 12" being a bit thinner.
A couple of hours ago (see the link in the above post) rumors have emerged that say the 15" and 17" Books should be updated "later this week". No word on the 12" though.
So, you probably ask, what the hell? Well, yeah, what the hell, we actually know nothing. But we are all hoping very badly for something to happen. My guess is either tomorrow or on September 16 at MW Paris. But that is nothing more than a little guess.
My advice: If you have waited for 7 months, you can wait another couple of weeks. You have held out long enough to show a) you do not rely on a PowerBook for life and death and b) you can hold out some more.
It hurts, but hey, you've really already waited for ages. I'd hold my breath for another couple of weeks. You are by far not the only guy here feeling the pain.

Yeah I suppose I can wait out. I really need a pb before school starts up again. I really don't want to go without a laptop up at school for another semester, especially if I change my major to pre-med. Well Thanks for your input. I actually thought the new keynotes was in LATE LATE September. I guess if they release it this week I will be a happy camper, but if they wait till Mid September they need to have same day shipping and it will suit my needs. What I will probably end up doing is setting up my developers account through apple tomorrow. Therefore all I have to do is call and order when it comes down to it.

My guess is not this week.
Apple has a new front page thing today (that G5s are shipping), wouldn't they want that news to be in the front for more than one or two days?
I don't think I've ever seen them change their front page more than once a week.

Hmm I supposed for minor announcements doesn't need to be up long. Then again, I don't think having the Office ad on Apple's front page was anything other than a corporate relations move, and hence doesn't deserve more time. The G5 shipping news is probably a nice way to get rid of the Office ad...

I know I have pointed it out before that their is a thread already open on this topic. "New PowerBooks NOT PowerPC 970" Why open another one?
Oh and New PowerBooks wouldnt take that front graphic on apples page anyways. They would be in one of the bottom 4. Please remember this is giong to most likely be a minor upgrade. The big thing right now is the G5 that is what will continue to get the front page. The powerbooks big day happened last january. I will be surprised if a small upgrade like that makes the front page center graphic. I expect it will be in one of the bottom 4. Dont forget the iMacs might get a speed bump too.

I just noticed that on an order we've placed, the ship time on the G4 TiSD has jumped to a few weeks. When stuff like this has happened in the past, new products were introduced. Take that for what its worth.
