From my other post, some of you know I need to reinstall my software.

I was just remembering that there were all this updates for my ibook because of audio problems and other things... do I need to again find those or are they included if I just update Mac OS X?

Does Mac OS X automaticlally install Mac OS 9? Because I don't think i need it anymore.

What is the best way to reinstall your computer? Procedure. How to erase everything?

I have
Disk Warrior which I just bought and Norton.

thanks for all your help from before.

Someone else here can give you a step-by-step better than me, no doubt... But be sure to click Custom Install and deselect things you don't need, such as some other language localization files and what-not. It will save you a fair amount of hard drive space.

OS X install does not install OS 9. You can install it separately - UNLESS you have a new powerbook or PowerMac, in which case you cannot install OS 9 (or earlier). The machine simply won't let you do it.

"Classic" is part of the OS X install however. This "walks like a duck, quacks like a duck" as far as looking and working like OS 9 but it is not a separate OS 9 installation: and only apps designed for it will work in classic. You may have heard the term "carbon" or "carbonized". If an app is designed to run in "classic mode" it is said to be "carbonized."

This classic environment means that virtually all apps designed for OS 8.5 and earlier will not run in "classic mode."
