The 1400 (and g3 notebooks) power adapters supply less wattage than the current books' adapters (45W vs. 60W). I have heard mixed things about compatibility:
Best case: It will allow you to run *or* charge a current book, but not both at the same time.
Worst case: Some people think it can corrupt power manager settings.
Maybe someone else has something more definitive for you.
