Hi people, my name is Shoe and I'm a switcher. I've been working at a newspaper for the past year, and after using Apples at work I finally decided I should go and get one to call my own. I went and purchased an iBook 900 12" from Ebay, and I must say it's remarkable. I could go on and on about why I love this computer, but I just wanted to introduce myself to the board. I've been reading the board for about 6 months now, and a lot of my decision making in buying an Apple has come from what I've read on this site. So thanks, and hopefully I'll learn a lot more soon!

P.S.- Speech recognition is cool.

Welcome to Macintosh.

The 900 iBook is a beautiful machine... I should get mine in two days, hopefully.

Stick around here - it's worth it. Especially if you ever have a problem.

Enjoy.

Good move Shoe. My best advice for long term chewing satisfation is learn a bunch of the keyboard and other shortcuts for doing stuff. You can find a lot of that in help (command-?). A good book helps, but stay away from those with too many and extra large screen shots of real simple and obvious stuff. You know what I'm talking about. Anyway it's the little things that make using Macintosh such a joy.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the new machine!

Also, as Cipher says, if you have any questions or queries, just post them... No matter how obscure they seem, there is always someone around who can help!

Peace,

Marc

Welcome to the Mac family! Like others have said, if you have questions, just ask. I switched permanently almost four years ago, and I've never regretted it!

The iBook is the be value in the computer world right now IMHO. You won't be sorry. I've had three now and they keep on impressing me to no end. For my usage, and extra battery helps, YMMV.

(1k posts here I come)
I was there about 2 months ago, then they archived some stuff and I fell back down to 860 somthing!

Congrats! Got my original 500 two years ago (now running a 700). Back then X was a joke but today... 10.1 made it bearable, but 10.2 broke the bank. Now drooling for Panther

I wonder if anyone ever used 10.0 for anything serious...
