Hi,
I was wondering whether there was a similar deal for PB+Ipod edu offer available to UK customers?
Would be nice to get an IPOD as well.
Cheers

Call the Apple store ASAP. (0800 039 1010?)
They just sold me an 867 15" for just a tad over £1300 including VAT and delivery on a Higher Education offer.
They are running some awesome deals at the moment...

Yeah? That's pretty damn good. I'm wanting to get the 1ghz Tibook, are the offers on the Apple education site?
Thanks

Thanks
I had a look on the site, and the 'Higher Education' offers were not on there...
When I bought (last month)I called up the Applestore and told them my Educational establishment, Cardiff University, and they went through the offers available over the phone... (There were indeed some great deals on the 1ghz as well as the 867).
I then went to a local Applestore (In Cardiff) to buy as I wanted to support them, and they told me that the 'special HE offers' were only available directly with Apple, and not through any resellers.
I ended up getting the 867, spare battery, ADC-->DVI and a D-Link adaptor for about £1500 all in. They also delivered within 24 hours!!
It is well worth checking with them!

Thank you for that. That is a really sweet deal. My partner is a lecturer so I'll get her to phone up, and try what you did, but I think it might be a bit different if you're a teacher.
Hope you're enjoying your new machine
Cheers again.

Someone might be interested in this..
I was on John Lewis yesterday, and if you buy a 17" PB, you get a free AirPort base station.

I just called the UK store, gave my institution, and a lady named Brid told me quite definitively that there were no offers of that kind - she quoted me all of the prices for HE customers, e.g.:
15 Combo: 1599 down to 1468.75
15 SD: 1999 down to 1835.10
and said that there were no bundles as mentioned by Placid. This was even after I said a friend had told me about them.
Any tips and tricks? I know my institution (Reading Uni) is part of the HE scheme (with the Uni-only website).

It looks like she just quoted the standard Edu discount, the ones that appears on the website... Not the true HE ones.
I am a Post Grad at Cardiff Uni, and they said that some Universities have special contracts and agreements, offering higher reductions than the standard 'edu website' ones.
I just checked my bills from the Apple store they emailed through to me on the 31/7/03 when I paid... They were as follows:
They charged me £1374.74 for the Powerbook (£1170 + Vat), and all together for the D-Link Adaptor, ADC->VGA adaptor, and spare battery, it was £190.10 (£161.79 +VAT).
All in I paid £1564.84.
I though it was a tad cheaper, but I still think it was still a pretty good deal for what I got...
If you want, I'll email you copies of the invoices, and you can quote Apple the invoice and sales numbers to see if they will match any of the prices. Just let me know what you need...
Peace,
Marc

Wow, that would be great. I thought she was giving me the standard HE prices - you'd have thought they'd want to encourage student purchases!
I've PMed you, thanks.

The eduaction deals in Europe are not as good as they are in the US. In Hololand they only give a little bit of discount, but not by far as much as in the USA. On top of that there are many schools/univeristies in the US that have sperate deals with Apple too. I hve not found one like that over here.
No, Europe is trailing the US (again) when it comesto special deals. Fortuantely I know a friend who helped me out and got me a great deal in the US and took it with him the other month when he came over to Europe to visit his family. All I had to do here was getting Apple CAre which was no problem at all. So now I have an Apple at special US Educational pricing and my 'Apple insurance' over here.

In the UK there are two levels of edu discounts, be sure to get the one where the offer is only accessible from a uni intranet.
