I put my powerbook to sleep last night. I had Sonica Theatre plugged into it (USB) at night, which loudly popped in the middle of the night waking me up. I looked at it, everything seemed fine.

In the morning, my powerbook was off and would not turn on. I removed the battery and tried to start up with just the power chord plugged in, but no luck.

Finally I opened up the keyboard and reset the PMU. Then it would start up.

What could have caused this?

Thanks,

t

I can't imagine what could've caused those problems, but I'd almost guess they aren't related. If they are, it may have something to do with the USB device while sleeping, and the computer attempting to wake when receiving a response from the USB port...I'd update to 10.2.6 if you haven't already because a prior version of OS X had issues w/ some USB things. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.
I am running the latest version of X. I did not think that Sonica would be the problem source, I just thought I would mention what state my computer was in.

It gets really scary when your computer does not want to start up.

I just remember that popping sound at night, that was probably caused by the computer shutting down.

This is really strange, I do not think that I had anything open before I put the computer to sleep, other than Entourage and maybe Safari.
But a sleeping computer should not just turn itself off, it was plugged into the power source.
