I plan on adding a 512 chip to my 12". Is it easy to install? What the probability of me screwing something up? I heard there were 1 gig chips available somewhere. Is it true?

Installing RAM in a 12" PB is very easy, *IF* you have the right tool. You'll need a very tiny ("00" size, I believe) screwdriver to open the external RAM slot cover. I simply got a $1.99 eyeglass kit from Food-Lion and it had a bit in it small enough to work. Once the cover's off, simply pop out the chip that's in there (Apple supplied 128MB probably) and pop in your new chip. Recover, rescrew, and bootup!

There *are* 1GIG RAM chips available for the 12" PB HERE. It's a German company and the price is INSANE! The benefits of having 1.1gigs of RAM compared to 640MB do not justify the massive price difference...as time continues, the 1GIG chip's price will continue to drop and become a more viable option.

It's very simple to install, just follow AssassyN's instructions.

The 1GB SOs are around, but still over $500US. Not worth the cost, IMO.
