So to fess up I have some ritek DVDr media which I guess is crappy cause it doesn;t seem to work at all in toast. Toast spits it out due to a media error before even burning anything. So now other than Finder burning are there any options for burning data dvds? Or any strategies for making things more agreeable to toast. I want to make discs that be read in PCs and Macs, plus the way the finder makes a copy of 4 gigs of data before burning is just kidna dumb it seems. I have a 12" PB and I haven;t applied that firmware patch floating arround.

Is your powerbook too hot? During the heatwave here, I got that same error unless I put an ice pack under the dvd burner drive.

I also get more media errors when trying to burn to DVD in Toast when it's hot - using TDK media in my 12" PB w/Superdrive.
