Whent he new 15inch powerbooks finally come out, how will they efffect the price of the Ti?

And is production probably stopped on the TI book?

How long do you usually have to buy the last line of a partiuclar computer?

For instance, how long did the clamshell ibooks take to completley sell out when the new dual usb ibooks came out.

Because I might still want the TI when the new ones come out, but I really think I can wait and see. I want to wait and see that is.

Generally you can't have the best of both worlds!

Once the 15" Alu comes out, the 15" Ti will be no more straight away. Production will have usually stopped weeks before to ensure that the channel is clear.

Apple will not offer old and new models for sale together at different prices, it is just not in their interest to do so. (However there may be some Ti's left in the refurb store).

It is most probable that the price of the 15" powerbook will go up...

YOu have a final option of being able to buy a 15" Ti from a reseller somewhere... they usually have some of the old models left when new ones come out.

I will say though, that all this is speculation, and I have learnt not to second guess Apple! It could be months before a new 15" Alu comes out. It could be hours...

Buy what you need, when you need to.

Peace,

Marc

I mentioned this in another forum but figured it applied here as well. I ordered the Ti last week and it was shipped directly form Taiwan (I guess this is where the factory is). There was no indication that is was going to come from any of apples usual sources here. I bought what I needed and didn't care about having the newest or not. I do like the Al ones but the case alone wasn't enough to make me holdout (the Ti is still great looking) and the minor upgrade of the processor wasn't that big deal to me either (especially since Panther is supposidly faster).

Form the sources that have been posted about resllers having stock of the Ti it looks like Best Buy bought a lot of them most likely in anticipation of the upcomming return to college. Probably are not sellling that great due to the news that the new Al is about to come out. I bet that would be where you could get a deal if the new ones come out soon.

I think the new 15" will be out at $2799 or more, so the $2599 for the 1ghz model will probably be the same.
