Hi, today i bought a USB keyboard to use my 12 in. pbook in clamshell mode. My CRT monitor is a Sony Multiscan G410. The optimal resolution for this monitor is 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz, or 1280 x 1024 @85 Hz. Once i booted in clamshell mode, i was dissapointed to see that the highest it would go is 1600 x 1200 @ 75Hz. Now i try using this, but my eyes started to complain, so it was a no go, and revert to using 1280 x 1024 @ 85Hz (can go up to 100Hz btw). Now i used to have an old 32mb video card in my wintel PC and it did put out 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz. And the modes this powerbook displays are up to 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz, i believe it has the potential to display 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz.

So i started looking around the net, and found that some ppl have gotten those "hidden" resolutions/refresh rates by turning off their monitors and turning them on after the mac has booted. I tried it it did give me some extra res. Yet not the ability to use 85 Hz @ 1600 x 1200. Then I stumble accross this article Has anyone try this method succesfully?. I dont want to go through this whole thing and in the end messing up something.

So here I am wondering wondering how to get 85 Hz @ 1600 x 1200, some ppl have gotten that mode with other monitors, Im wondering why mine doesnt. Well thanx in advance for the help guys.

the refresh rate bug/issue is an OS issue w/ 10.2. Jag can not get a refresh rate over 85hz on a CRT for some reason.
I can happily tell you though that Panther does not have this issue. Another good reason to upgrade to Panther when it comes out.

Well as long as i know that i can get 85Hz with 1600 x 1200...ill be getting panther (was going to get it anyways, after all the posts of how much faster it is compared to jaguar)
