I've found that with all the macs I play with at the store and my ibook, if the mac isnt' set to the higgest possible resolution it can handle, it looks terrible.

For instance, I was playing with a 15 inch powerbook, and it wasn't set to 1280 by 1150 or whatever it is, but to the resolution below that. And it was hard to read the words on the screen, they weren't sharp in any way.

Anyone else notice this?

I mean most of the time I want the highest resolution, my say on the 17iMac, I prefer a different resoltion than the best one, but if I changed it, the sides turn black and it just looks terrible.

LCD's have what is called a "native resolution".
