I have a 667MHz G4 PB that has been my portable "Studio" for doing digital photography for several years. It's been totally reliable.
Now I've upgraded my digital camera to a 16 mega pixel Kodak DCS Pro Back (on a Hasselblad 555ELD camera). My image files are now much larger and I need to do some processing of each image and then convert them to Photoshop TIFF files. Then I burn them onto CDs, often when I'm 4,000 miles from home.
My current 30 GB hard drive (4500 RPM) is too small and too slow. I thought about ordering a new 1GHZ PB, but it still has the 4500 RPM drive. Any new (?) 15" PB will take too long to deliver.
So, I want to upgrade my curent PB HD to the 60GB Hitachi-IBM Travelstar 7K60 7200 RPM Disk Drive. It's only $329 at:

Has anyone made this upgrade? Is the 7200 RPM hard drive reliable? Is the speed difference noticable? I can't risk a crash out on the road.
Many thanks for any replies.
