After getting tired of waiting and playing the rumor games, I finally pulled the trigger on a 17"/1GB RAM/60GB HD/SuperDrive AluBook. I plan to use it for multimedia projects with my church media group (using Keynote and FCP4) and also for my multimedia arts studies.

Can't wait to join the family.. (I'm a Linux switcher.)

Any switching tips?

I think a 17" PB is not a gamble at this point. The most they will do to it is bump it up .25Ghz. I can't imagine what else they could do to improve on it.

I got mine to replace a dual 1 GHz G4 last weekend. It feels a bit sluggish compared to that computer, but I think that's understandible given its size. I too will be editing using FCP 4. I have a pretty hefty project (It's on 9 DVCAM tapes right now), so I think I'll be putting it through its paces, but it is a very good machine for me.
