Hello my fellow mac users. I've been using Winblows PC's for the last two years and I'm tried of it. I ordered a 900MHz combo iBook yesterday from Micro Center, they got a $100 mail-in rebate going so it made the deal even sweeter. Now hopefully Micro Center will ship it today so I can play with my new iBook tommorrow. I can't wait.

Congratulations.

I visited MicroCenter's website, failed to see the $100 discount offer you mentioned. Perhaps you can provide us a link?

My brother is in the market for an iBook and the lowest price I've seen is from Apple itself: $1199 with edu discount for the 900 12"1.

Go to the Micro Center web site and choose any Apple notebook. On the bottom of the product page is where the rebate is. The rebate ends this Saturday.

I'm not sure this is better than Apple's edu discount. With Apple you don't have to wait 8-12 weeks for your $100 off and you get free shipping. The only negative is taxes. Did Micro Center charge you taxes? If so how much? They charge $20 for shipping.

Nope no taxes for me. You do have to pay taxes if you live in a state where they have a store. Getting the same iBook I got from Apple with education discount is 1249.00 plus taxes and shipping. Getting the iBook from Micro Center is tax free, shipping was $60 (I got overnight) and comes out to$1199.00 with the rebate.

Here is the link to check if they charge sales tax where you live: http://www.microcenter.com/how_to_shop/shipping.html

If your brother live in Flordia like you, then he won't have to pay taxes. Hmm just checked Apple Store for education looks like Apple raised the discount educational users get. It use to be $50, now it's $100.00. Guess I should have checked the Apple store first, oh well.
