I stopped in my local Apple store and they had a open 867mhz ti for $1499.00 . I hesitated to get it for a minutes because they would not let me open it! Weird, cant open an open box unit... Anyway I bought it and was praying for no scratches.. well it was NEW, it looks like someone just opened it and thats it.
I think I got a pretty good deal. Of course they had no comment on a new 15 inch PB... The sales person just avoided my questions on it. Oh well... I am happy for now.

Pretty good deal. Hope it works out well for you. I remember paying over $3000 for my Lombard a few years ago and thinking it was a great deal (got 10% off). How times change.

Congratulations on the new purchase. Enjoy, and please report back with your experience (Especially the Combo drive burning speed and how often do the fans start).
This is one refined version of Ti PBs, no keyboard-screen mark problems, airport range slightly improved, good graphics subsystem, no paint flaking problems...my only gripe is it runs a tad hotter than 667 DVI and the double fans, but you'll get used to them.

I bought a 867 Ti myelf a couple of weeks ago (got it last monday form the fedex guy).
I have no problems with the airport card at all. I am using a belkin 802.11b access point (on it right now) and I am about 40 feet form teh base. I have a full set of bars and teh base sits in my office so it has to pass through several walls.
The keyboard marks on the screen are still there after a few days but I just use monitor wipes and clean it off.
Heat hasn't really been issue for me yet. It does get a litle warm but so does the Viao laptop I used to have. The fan doesn't kick in too mch and when it does I can barely hear it. Nice change, again form the viao, and a Toshiba that I also have at my office that the fan runs alot on and when it does it sounds like a damn shop vac.
Overall the computer is great. My wife has a 500mhz Ti model and it seems to have a few more quirks but overall still a great machine

hey southtdi,
the screen marks can become permanent after a while.
a good, inexpensive solution is to keep a sheet of printer paper between keyboard and screen when you close it.
best wishes,

Congrats Lorinserbenz, sounds like you had a great deal!
I bought a Ti 867 last month...
Very very impressive machine so far.
However, on the subject of fans, I do get them kicking in a fair bit. I mostly use it plugged in and at full processor speed, so that may be the cause...
Overall though, I'm very happy.
Hope you enjoy the machine too!

A www.radtech.us screen protector does the job perfectly too... and also looks cool!
I also recommend the wildeepz!
Peace,
Marc
