I stopped by the local CompUsa this morning after seeing all of the posts that the G5's were showing up.

First of all, what a beautiful machine, a real piece of art, especially when hooked up to the 23" display that it was hooked up to. But as far as performance, it felt sluggish compared to my 17" with 1GB of RAM. This was probably due to the fact that the G5 only had 256MB of RAM, but none the less it felt more like my old Ti500 with 512MB of RAM.

Anyone else had a chance to compare? What was your initial impression?

For me it felt a lot faster! I tried to rip a Cd, it did it faster 45 seconds faster than the 17" powerbook I know someone has! So watever you felt it is a lot faster the the G4, also when they start making software for 64bit computers they are going to blow everything out of water!

but the 17" powerbook doesn't have that kickass sliding door on the front! :drool:

Then again.. the powerbook.. is beautiful :drool; I soo want a powerbook.. more then a powermac g5
