Well, I'm convinced now that Apple screwed up with their design of Pismos. I used to think that it is just some deposits from the keyboard on the screen. Today, I looked at those blemishes on the screen that are arranged in an ordered manner. Guess what! the friggin keyboard has been etching away into the surface of the LCD all this while! Damn!! Anyway, you just have to trust me on this. I have actually seen this problem in other tibooks as well. Stay warned!! protect your screen with something in between the keyboard and the screen.

VERY old. But I still doubt that anyone's screen as become "etched" or "scratched" by the keyboard. The marks are from the oil in your fingers getting transferred to the screen, and usually wipe off if you use a screen cleaning wipe.

I know it as old news if it is just just oily(finger-grease) residues from the keyboard. It refused to budge when I tried to even use windex. Windex used to work, it doesnt anymore on these marks on my screen. So I took it to a stereomicroscope and it is very clear that these are indeed etch marks.

Try using a single alcohol wipe (available in drugstore), then finish with final cleaning with LCD screen cleaner such as Klear Screen. The screen will then look brand new.

Alcohol is not advised to be used on LCD screens due to potential damaging effects, but a singe application used to eliminate those marks won't cause problem, and truly makes them disappear.

BTW, Windex is also not advised to be used on LCD's due to the ammonia content.

Hi all,

Yup, those marks become permanent after a while, this link gives the details:

http://www.macnn.com/news/16170

I doubt you will want to go for the repair service noted in that link, as the Pismo (albeit a great machine) is really a bit old to be investing a lot of money on repairs.

Best wishes,
