While typing my previous post, my "Z" key just fell off... I cannot figure out how it attaches... seems like it was just sorta pasted to this little rubber nub... there doesn't seem to be anything to insert or clip into anything... I think it must've broken.

Guess I'll be burning a couple hours driving to my local Apple Store tomorrow... darnit... unless you guys can enlighten me...

How do these keys go on? (PB12)
When you pop off a key properly, what do you see on the back of it?

There's a arrangement that goes around the rubber dimple called a scissors.

you'll see that it actually attaches to the bottom of the key after it attaches to the metal hooks around the dimple.

Hey Kennedy,

I had a key pop off on my Ti 667 a while back and I found this which made it quick and easy to replace.

Take a look and it should show you how to snap your 'Z' back in place!

Hi,

I've got some bad news for you if you can't get it back on. - The keyboard is extremely difficult to replace on the new PBs, and needs you to send in the whole computer. That's why I'm making do with a slightly wonky Y key...

Thanks for that link! The key came off with the scissor stuck to the key still... so I had to first disassemble the keycap from the scissor and then those directions worked great.

Problem solved! Thanks.

the S key on my 15 inch broke off a few years back, and Apple replaced the whole keyboard.

And lucky you, you got to keep the old keyboard, since it's a user installable part. Always good to have spare keys.
