My partner has smashed her ibook 400 screen, large crack, but still usable. It's fallen to me to try and find a replacement for less than the huge cost and long delay of an apple UK replacement.

Anybody got a good, reasonably priced source for a spare, or even an old dead machine I can plunder for parts?

Let me know.

cheers

d.

ebay is definitively the place to grab it ! Had exactly the same pb but it was me who broke my gf ibook 366 lcd ! so i took it apart (taking care of the nasty fluids in it) and noted the part number written on the back (was samsung LT121SU-123). Then on ebay i tracked down all pc lcd parts assuming it would be cheapier than going to the mac side. It asked a lot of research but i finally found a sony pcg-f801a lcd screen to sell which featured a samsung LT121SU-123 ! I won the auction at 20€ which is something like 22$. Put the lcd screen in the ibook SE 366 and fix my clumsiness ^_^ now it's working just fine. These little toilet-sits are just uncredibly strong as the broken screen was the result of a fall on the back with the device on it in a non protective cheap coton bag... now it happily runs 10.2.8 and wait for a RAM upgrade to make it even more responsive... But... now i wonder what if you put a 13" or an enhanced 12" supporting higher resolutions than 8000x600 (according you can find one with same current spec) ? Will it allow you to bypass that 800x600 wall ?
