MY ibook ethernet port stopped working for no reason today, the network panel says connected but he ip is wrong, tried manual settings but still no response. I have used other windows comptuers on the netork and they work okay, I have been using this ibook for a while too. MY warranty just ran out and I checked my computer for the price of an adapter, and replaced the logic board at the price of the most expensive ipod so please help me. I am about to cry I don't know what to do...apple support won't help me at all i'm stuck with a useless computer.I know the ISP is not the problem....anyway to save my ibook? I have spent about a powerbooks worth on this mac ****ing **** already I"M ABOUT TO HHAVE ENOGUBHEdndd

I can understand your frustration. My iBook has been repaired by Apple 5 times! Over a month in repairs all total. I lost many hours of data and time over these problems. Not to mention the stress.
My iBook is now out of warranty, although there are still 3 months left on my last repair from Apple. It is still not completely fixed but if I cannot reproduce the problem then Apple can't repair it. I'm waiting to see whether something serious reproduceable happens. Otherwise if it goes kaput after three months, I will certainly not pay to repair it! It would make more sense to buy another machine.
And this is basically what I wanted to tell you. I don't think you should have spent $400 fixing your iBook if it was out of warranty and you certanly shouldn't spent any other considerable amount. Better to invest in a new machine.
I do not know why your ethernet port is not working. You could try to get around it by using a wireless network. This would be nice to have even if you get rid of the iBook. If you are just trying to transfer stuff, you could of course use firewire or USB.
Otherwise, here is a link to supposedly affordable iBook / Powerbook repairs:

Have you tried restarting while connected to the network? (just to make sure this was covered...)

Also, have you tried just using a different ethernet cable or plugging into a different port on the hub? It may just be something simple like that.

Radiant,
Does an external mouse work? If not, it may be your logic board.
