I just found an advert for a 15" powerbook 867Mhz. It is stock standard. They put a price of NZ$ 2000. Does this seem like a good deal? Also anyone with this powerbook how does it perform? (eg games, imovie, photoshop etc.)

It is a good machine. I don't know how much doe that convert to US dollars.

But I had one and I was very happy with it.

It is practically the same machine except for superdrive and extra video ram and of course processor speed to the 1GHz.

2,000 New Zealand Dollar = 1,153.56 US Dollar
As of 9/6/2003.

Is that for a brand new PowerBook? If it is then that is a FANTASTIC deal! even for a used one that is a good price. Just be careful, it might be stolen. Really.

yeah if it is 1150 bucks that is definitely a good deal on a used one, but especially on a new one.

Here in the States you can't even find one that is $1500 for used.

But yeah, if it is stolen, when you register it Apple might make you turn it in.

Hey,

If its "too good to be true", it usually is.

BEWARE

There are so many powerbook scams here in the USA, and I imagine plenty overseas as well. And the common thread is that they are all deals that are "too good to be true" and play on peoples desire to get something for nothing.

What is the reputation of this seller? Will he show you the original sales receipt?

Best wishes,

Rich

Thanks for the tips guys i will have to check to see if it was stolen. I dont know the reputatio of the seller as it was just a notice pinned to a uni notice board. Are there any problems i should look out for when checking the powerbook over?
Cheers
