Well, next week my Rev. B Pismo 500 (still absolutely flawless) is turning three years old. It's my wife's at the moment but I finally went out and got a replacement for it. I'm typing this on a new plain jane 12 inch Powerbook. We got it for 1399 with the edu. discount at the South Coast Apple Store. We added in Apple Care (only 239) and the Airport Extreme to make this a truly quick and inexpensive laptop.
The Pismo still ranks as the best laptop computer ever made, but life moves on. I went back and forth with the upgrades and just decided I was pouring good money after bad. I'm going to give it to a friend of mine who desperately needs the upgrade from his Wallstreet.
I'm going to be dumping the 256mb of ram in favor of 640 this weekend but the rest of the computer is going to stay bone stock. I might like to change the hard drive, but the stuff I've read don't make it sound easy, to say the least. Ahh, this is the end of an era for me and a lot of others. I'm sad and happy at the same time.
