the sales rep did my order and had my order totalled to $2400+ CDN, which when I did the math myself does not include sales tax. Now I am just wondering if that means I won't be charged tax, or will tax be added to the $2400? if there is a tax on top of the $2400, shouldnt the sales rep have told me about it? What about customs at the border? Will i be charged extra for that? I would call an Apple sales rep now but they are closed rite now and I am anxious to know what my true total will be.

Umm. . . not sure about this one. But I think you'll only be paying $2400

When I ordered my 12 PB via telephone, the rep did not mention the sales tax. I knew I would be charged tax so it was no big deal. Sure enough when they billed my CC the tax (California) was applied.

Before you buy you might want to consider waiting until after Sep 16th. We are expecting new powerbooks then at least a new 15". look through the forums there is a lot of talk about them.

The online Apple Store, by policy, charges the same tax that local stores have to. I would be surprised if there's an exception for the Toronto area. Take a look at macprices.com if you want to try avoiding tax and hit one of the other online retailers.

Well, if your ordering from a place that is only located in one prov. and you have it shipped to another you don't pay PST. I buy stuff from macstore.ca (Ontario) and get them shipped to my house (BC) and do not pay PST because I don't live in ontario. No matter where you are in Canada you will still pay GST. If your in the states then you will likely pay your state tax or duty on the border.

shhhh.

TELEPHONE ORDERING > ONLINE ORDERING

As I was cancelling my order through telephone, the sales rep said sumthing like " what can we do to reward your patience and not cancel your order" and then i said a free extreme card would be nice. he went on to talk with his supervisor and he came back a minute later and said congrats you've got a free extreme card.
but now my order has been pushed back to sept 26 becuz the ipod 10GB is delaying everything. but hey a free extreme card > 10 days of wait. plus i will get to know if the new PBs will be coming during Paris EXPO.

They will charge the sale tax when your bill arrives, don't worry.
