Hi, I was just reinstalling os x on my g3 400 pismo lappy and it installed fine but when it went to reboot it went through the normal start up, then after a min screen went blank and the power light started to flash. So I check the power plug, thinking my battery ran out of battery, pressed the power button trying to get it out of a hibernation state and nothing. I then took out the powerplug and battery. Light was still flashing, waited a min and still flashing. So I put everythinb back in and hit reset button on back. Light stopped flashing but now I when i press power button it does nothing. Any Ideas???

When i press the button on the battery itself it used to light up, but now nothing happens there as well.. Please help, if you have any idea........

I used to have this with a Pismo. I temporarily managed to get it back to work by unplugging everything, removing the battery, and holding down the little reset button at the back for about a minute, then waiting another minute and plugging battery and ac adapter back in and booting. A few weeks later even that failed to work and it had to have its motherboard replaced.

Hi StingOr,

I would leave the computer plugged in a while and then try resetting the power manager again.

Are you sure that the battery and power adapter are functional? If possible, try to use a known working battery and power adapter.

Did you have the latest version of the boot ROM in your Pismo (4.18)? Not sure how you would tell at this point, though, if you Pismo wont even boot--Ordinarily its seen in the system profiler (OS9) or the 'About this Mac' menu--> more info button in OS X.

Were there any symptoms prior to this happening? (I am groping for where you should start looking).

If that doesnt help, try reading through the Pismo service manual for troubleshooting ideas. But unfortunately, its hit or miss when you start swapping out components in search of the defective one:

Best wishes,

Rich (Pismo G3 500)
