the titanium is painted with a bad paint. and althou it's gotten better sicne the first model, it's still basically a design flaw and there's always some paint chipping or wearing off problem. and it also has a rather flimsy design that allows the case to flex and warp too much. try touching the back of the LCD and you'll know what i mean. also the hinge design is too exposed which poses danger to it being easily damaged.
on the other hand, the 12 and 17", th aluminum models are not painted and hard anodized, which means there are no paint to chip and it's also much more rigid and rugged in design than the titanium. they also sport a hidden hinge. so it's not exposed when it's closed. (iBook style).

none that I know of... the Al is the new revs of the PB line some new things in the hardware maybe - check the specs between 15" and 17" for the differences...
I have read many old threads about Ti paint chipping off but I also read this was fixed (maybe???)
the 15" Ti is a great machine but it seems many people have been waiting on a new 15" Al to match the specs of the 17"

Okay, thanks for the info guys.
Also, is there any major differences when it comes to heat related issues? (meaning between the two metals...not the models)

The 17" PB is the coolest of the three.
The 15" PB has the most fan activity of the three

Before you buy you might want to consider waiting until after Sep 16th. We are expecting new powerbooks then at least a new 15" thats what I am hopeing to get.

Yeah forgot lighted keyboard Ahhhhh sweeet.
Still
I'm getting a little upset now that my 17" PB will be here in a few days
I wanted to wait until Sept 20 but the company buying it for me would not wait
if its anything like the old rumors
USB 2.0 and 1.25GHz just like the iMac I guess I can live with that little bump- just a little frustrating to think I would have waited if it was my money... It better not be a G5 pleeeeaaase don't be a G5!
A FREE 17" PB for my own personal use that I get to keep, does not hurt that bad
Still I wonder if I do not open the box and wait for the 16th could I sell it for $200 less and get the new one??? Ahhhggghhhh the greed!
Maybe I should just buy myself a 40gig iPod to make sweet love to my old powerbook
