wellthe 867 tibook is probably old news to most people, but it's my first ever mac and i'm loving it to bits! performance is excellent (as fast as if not faster than my sister's 1.2 Ghz dell) and mac osx is blowing me away. had a few anoyying things happen though that i (foolishly) believed that this sort of thing didnt happen on a mac, such as help locking up a few times, iTunes relaunching every time i closed it and the mouse pointer being replaced with a square of horizontal lines when playing a dvd. nothing too major, anyway.
anyhoo, i had a few questions for people who are in the know:
*how should i keep my powerbook clean? theres already a little dust on the screen and a bit on the keyboard... can i use those wet wipe type things i used to use on my crt?
*is it usual for the powerbook to emit a low buzz when running off battery power? in the car today, playing snes9x, and later (after a restart) a dvd, it emitted an unhealthy sounding buzz from somewhere behind the keyboard
*will i notice a huge jump in performance if i upgrade from my 768 mb ram to 1gb?
thanks in advance for any help given. overall, i love my Pbook to bits and already feel that i couldnt do without it!!

Buy some iklear, it is great and is made for everything you just mentioned. I don't know the wipes you are talking about.

AHHHH, another person when the ever so present buzz, sizzle under the keyboard. It is normal and if you type that subject in the search you will get a mountain of posts on it. You learn to get used to it and for mild interent browsing i turn my energy saver to longest battery life and the problem goes away.

I wouldn't think so but i don't think i am too qualified to answer that

There is a product called iClean I think that'll help. I just use a tissue. You should also get a leather screen protector from OWC to prevent marks on your screen when you close it.

Yeah, it is the worst on the 17". Don't worry about it is normal.

Umm. . . it depends on what kind of work you are doing. Don't be an idiot and go max out on ram if you don't really need it. You could go to Applications/Utilities/Process Viewer and you could see how many percent of ram you are using. If it looks like you are maxing out then you probably don't need it.
Ram only helps if you are using it. If you are only using 400mb and you have 768 adding another 256 won't do anything at all.
By the way congratulations and Welcome to Macs.

It just stopped doing it one day and never came back.

Yes, you're very very lucky, I wish mine would just go away too... but I don't think that will ever happen.

Have you tried taking out the battery and putting it back in several times?
That`s the only thing I can remember I did when it stopped.
