I want to charge them while I'm driving.. Anyone know where I can get a cigarette charger for my 12" powerbook and ipod?

I don't know about one for a Powerbook, but Griffin makes a great one for the iPod.

You can get one from CompUSA for the powerbook, it's about $80 though...

Just get a power inverter. It'll be half the price of a charger and 10x more versatile.

I have the Igo Jucie. It has a car, airplane, and home adapter all in one unit. This works well because you can just keep it in you laptop bag and leave the apple one plugged in at home. You can also get plugs for you cellphone/pda to power them at the same time. it costs about $90.00

I agree with Wiskedjak, get a power inverter, just get a size big enough to charge them both together. I've got umpteen million car adapters for previous generations of apple laptops, and they each cost at least $70 each, and none of them will fit any other power plug. What a waste of money?

The power inverter is heavier than a car adapter, but why worry? The car is carrying it, not you.

Another vote for the iGo Juice:


It has swappable tips and power supplies, which means:
1) It's an extra AC adapter if your current one breaks or you want to have one at work, one at home.
2) It *also* can be a car adapter.
3) If Apple changes the style of the power plug, or you switch to Wintel, you just swap out the little tip at the end, and can keep using the AC adapter part. It comes with tips for all popular brands of notebooks.


On the other hand, because you want to charge the iPod also, an inverter might make sense. But the Juice really is great.

For under $20, you can get an inverter(12 volt Dc to 110 Volt ac) that plugs in cigarette lighter plug. You can also run TV, VCR, DVD, electric razor, coffee pot..... from your car or van.

I got my inverter from Canadian Tire (they don't just sell tires) for CAN$40. That's about US$25-$30.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are many Canadian Tires outside of Canada.

If you're in an area served by a Fry's Electronics, they advertise one about every week for less than $20.
